An equine vet tech is a professional veterinary technician who has been trained and certified in horse care. Unlike a veterinary technician that works in a veterinarian's office, this type of tech usually travels with her supervising vet to the patient's location. Duties in this line of work may include preventative medicine, administration of injections and medications, assisting with surgery and birth, assisting with euthanasia when necessary and basic horse care and maintenance. Many vets and their technicians work closely with horses and their owners to ensure these animals receive the best care possible.
