Improve Gas Mileage And Save Money

With gas around $4.00 per gallon, we are all looking for ways to improve gas mileage. One of the biggest obstacles for someone trying to improve gas mileage is themselves. The way you drive can greatly affect how much or how little gas mileage your car gets. The easiest thing to do is to image you have an egg resting between your foot and the pedals and you don't want to break it. You need to add gradual pressure when pushing in the accelerator or brake pedals to get the best gas mileage improvement. Sudden stops or acceleration cause your engine to burn fuel less efficiently. This means you will need to look ahead down the road and anticipate what is coming. If cars are stopping at the traffic light ahead, don't brake at the last minute. Instead, let off the accelerator and cost up to the traffic in front of you. When approaching a slow moving car on the highway, change lanes early so you don't have to slow down only to pull out and accelerate around the car. If your car has an instant gas mileage monitor, observe this while you drive. You will quickly learn which driving habits are the best ways to improve gas mileage.
